Halloween Party in UCN

Hej Guys!!

This post is mostly for people who are not in Aalborg yet, or those of you who are not updated with all the events happening in Aalborg;)

If you ask me, I don't go out so often as I used to in the beginning of my studies, but I am always happy to hear that all the newcomers have the opportunity to participate in so many events. As you all know, one week ago there was Halloween in America. Well, turned out it also came to Denmark, UCN more specifically.

Carvinal International Parade

Dear UCN'ers

If you follow my facebook site you must know that yesterday I have been in the city center and I was watching a nice parade just on the Aalborg street. I am sure you also have seen some pictures there! :)

This year the carneval has started already yesterday, but it's going to last almost all week, no worries, you can still experience this whole environment. Yesterday was just a 'welcoming party' for all the bands that have arrived to Aalborg! They were going through the streest, people went out to look at it all and everyone was simply enjoying  - you can see it in the video that I prepared for you all :)
In the evening, me and my friend went to get some fresh air close to the Fjord and the party apparentely moved there! So many people chilling by the water, so many dancing to the sunset, and the music played by the bands, just amazing!!

That's my favourite band! They are from Netherlands :)

Since today we have such a beautiful day, I will not stop you anymore, watch the video that I filmed yesterday, read some more about this year's Carnival Programme (it's also in english) and go, get a beer! When it's so warm in Aalborg, you can't stay home!

UCN Graduate, what next?

Dear UCN'ers

"Long time no see", or so they say. From my graduation in january I did not mention much about that, but it is just because of lack of time. 
And.. it happened -  after 3,5 years in UCN I recieved my diploma. I graduated with bachelor degree in International Hospitality Managemnet. It's over! UCN experience has finished for me, at least in the point of education. BUT, no worries, you'll be seeing me around, reading propably more posts on this site.  If you ask me about the graduation ceremony, well, I must say I liked the AP one MUCH more. On the bachelor one, we only recieved diplomas, lunch, little chat with the teachers and good bye. Not too much effort in comparison to AP graduation. Hopefully yours will be better!:)

You must be propably wondering, what now? Well, from the graduation time until april I was very busy with my work. About one of my jobs you were able to read in my Previous Post and about the second one - I will let you know soon, but I felt really happy I could experience working for a danish  business. However now, I have a free time, at least until september, and yes, I am staying in Aalborg. I am gathering my powers, learning and developing  myself in case of danish, my skills, my character among many others. I also want to spare some time for travelling. Anyways, I have lots of time, and with sun coming out in Aalborg, there is plenty to show you on my blog! 

You may be sure - I will be reviewing as much as I can and I will try to fulfill any of your requests regarding life in Aalborg. Just leave me the comments down below, on my Facebook site or on my email with whatever you would like to read about or see in a form of video:) Soon, you will be able to see me in a new position, I tried something new and I hope you will like it! 

Since I have some free time, I am going out from time to  time, together with my friends, to celebrate our life and take a time off from the problems. Here, I managed to record a video for you guys, so you can see how we party and live Aalborg , UCN graduate life. :)

Party in the town!

Hope you had a good weekend! I guess you didn't miss me, since the last blog post was on friday, but honestly I am trying to do everything besides writing my project! (Hope my teachers don't read that!)

Actually I thought it's a great opportunity to show you a bit how the most popular street in Denmark - Jomfru Ane Gade - look like, so you are not surprised when going there :)

I think, this video is so promotional that speaks for itself of the awesomeness of this place,but I am going to write a bit more of my experiences with that street  and I am going to show you my video relation from yesterday's night.

Jomfru Ane Gade is the longest street with the bars, restaurants and discos along side in Denmark. It dates back til the 16th century and was used as a home for merchants. The first bar - Gaslight - was open in May in 1967. By 1970 there was 10 bars and 1992 they opened 16 new ones. Nowadays its over 30 and the amount of it is still getting higher. In the early 90's the street was a meeting and fighting place for the two biker gangs known in all Scandinavia,but after some years they left the street and the place became more and more popular for all ages people. During the day the street is open for those who wants to sit down and drink a nice coffe, or eat a lunch and during the evening,people are coming after work to sit and enjoy the atmosphere by listening to the music and eating the dinner. Around 24:00 the noise is getting all over the city since young people are ready for a party. Girls are coming to Jomfru Ane Gade full of makeup, short dresses and high, but comfortable heels. Boys are coming with the good mood, and of course - as danish ones - the fashion for them is as much of importance as for the girls.

Most of Danes and International students start a 'home parties', drinking alcohol together and enjoying the company but all of them are ready to hit the streets after 11 o'clock. 

Personally I don't enjoy Jomfru Ane Gade so much because I am more a 'homy' person , adoring the valuable time with my friends when we talk all night, drink a good wine and dance a bit to the funk and 80's music. I am going to Jomfru (the short form of it) maybe once in 5 months, when there is a party in my friends house and all of the people want to go. Being honest with you - there is lots of pubs but in all of them there is a 'radio style' music (Rihanna, Lady Gaga etc - I don't really see a difference) However I enjoy a lot a variety of people and variety of cultures in a different bars. There is unique style and design what makes my eyes really happy.

My favourite club is No.16 - its my favourite because my best friend is working there but also because its a highly selective one. You see high and masculine security men all over the place so you feel kind of safe. Also when you are coming there you its hard to take your eyes off from a  long and luxurius drink stand.

I think the best part in the street is that it is so loooong and fulled with bars which compete for the customers,so most of them is giving free drinks so sometimes people are just going around, gathering the cards and they can get drunk just after entering every other place. Ok. I was used to do that as well. (You can see that on the video from yesterday)

Some tips for you

-Go to the street around 24 or 1:00 - that time the street is full of people and you can really feel the atmosphere - I remember one evening in october - there was so many people that I was going from one side of the street to the other 10 minutes!

- Don't be scared of drunk people - there are lot of them but Aalborg is a very safe place and people won't hurt you, especially when they are drunk.

- Don't worry about the crowd of people that is always there - when you want to go to the other site of street - just go and don't care. Danes on Jomfru are always doing so - they touch you, step on your feet and don't even say sorry - do the same thing - but -just on jomfru!:)

Black Lights Party!

Hello!

 Are you enjoying thurstday's morning? 

-Today we don't have any classes, so I woke up at 11 and decided that first I am going to write you short review from Black Lights Party (as I promised), edit video with pictures for you and in the end I am going to study and then party!! hahha:)

At Black Light Party, I wasn't long time, but I managed to take some video shots and notice how people were having fun! It was really great to look at all happy faces painted with rainbow colours and dancing to the rythm of music. The party was organised by friends of mine from the same specialisation as me - congratulations Andrei and Viktor!! They found also many volounteers  who were serving drinks, painted bodies, took pictures, stood in wardrobe place and at the end, helped with cleaning. Big thanks to them as well! You could see that the party was from students - for students. 

I asked Viktor to write some words for you. Here you are :)

Parties FOR students BY students

"The whole idea behind the Traffic Lights and Black Lights Parties is to mingle UCN` international and Danish students by providing them with great atmosphere and extremely cheap drinks. I and my colleague have done the impossible in order to sell drinks at prices that even the students who do not have a job can afford.

The theme of each party is based on Experienced Economy concept, meaning that we have implemented successfully some of the theories taught by UCN`s teachers during our studies in Denmark. We are trying to differ from any ordinary student party by investing a lot of efforts and money into our parties. We could manage to do that because UCN kindly offered sponsorship for both of the parties and Aalborg University`s non-profit organization - I-Life, helped by promoting our events. It was not easy task but the result was that at the Traffic lights party we have got nearly 650 students and during the Black Lights party around 530. Therefore we have organized some of the largest parties for international students for the past 5 years in Aalborg` region.

Both of the parties were so successful because of our different approach. We are providing the students with everything they need, meaning that they don’t have to invest into special costumes, paint or accessories. Pictures and videos from both parties are available at our Facebook page:  HERE"
